Kimberley M. Davis

Kimberley M. Davis is an nationally and internationally recognized performing artist, with performances in Bermuda, Brazil, France, Hawaii, Mexico, and Spain.  Her performances include those with orchestra, chamber orchestra, as well as those on the operatic stage.   Davis has several touring programs of specialized music that consist of either French Mélodie, Classical and Romantic art song, and a favorite that is based on her research of African American female composers and arrangers titled, A Spiritual Journey and Contemporary Song, a full concert of spirituals, art songs, and folk arrangements by African American composers.  The lecture recital, The Music of Notable African American Twentieth Century Female Composers and Arrangers, is frequently performed with one of the notable composers of her research, Jacqueline B. Hairston.  Davis holds a doctorate in vocal performance and is an associate professor of music, teaching voice and voice related studies at The University of Southern Mississippi.  She is an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the Music Teachers National Association and is on the Executive Board of the State Chapter of the MTNA, the Mississippi Music Teachers Association (MMTA) and was formerly Chairperson of the voice area for the organization.  In addition to being an active adjudicator, Dr. Davis is an active clinician in this region, nationally, and internationally and also gives mini-concerts for children; she is also actively involved in an after-school program that services underserved youth with studies in the Humanities and the Arts in the Hattiesburg area.  She is a member of the Center for Black Music Research at Columbia College, Chicago, Illinois.
